Small lessons to follow up and understand what is Social Media, I found this nice video a couple of months ago, but now it seems useful, mainly because people in Mexico are wondering how it would affect them or how it can be applied to them.

Un gran ejemplo de los Medios Sociales, aqui esta como se debe de hacer.

En la pagina experiencia de Wii en Youtube podras experimentar como sucede, una pagina a la cual ya estamos acostumbrados ampliamente, Youtube, pero que pasaria si vieras que el juego se refleja en lo que estas viendo en una pantalla normal, bueno aqui esta.

Entren a la pagina, dos capturas de la imagen hacen un buen teaser, pero unos 3 minutos haran que sea mas interesante.

Yesterday Televisa the big company of media for Latino America announced two new sites as new media development, the first one dedicated to sports, so its just a revamp of their old website and a new revolutionary site according to them.

TVolucion.com their new nice site, it’s not going to work properly because, a couple of things. First, its an old media company trying to get into new media, well, having the possibility of taking control of the archive that they have, lets say 50 years of programs, and being able to watch it, will be amazing, will be great.

But how about the part on new media, well they talk about web series. They are not planning any interaction, they are not ready for being part of new media. Why?

Well first and most the whole site is on flash and silverlight, which means, if you are not on certain platforms you cant use it, so lets forget about the market of iPhones. Lets forget about innovators. No one needs to care about the early adopters. Non of the website will be downloadable, so you cannot take it with you in your iPod, zune, media player, computer, or anywhere where there is no connection on the Internet. Well this is bad because when you are in plane, the connections today are not that fast. So lets forget about where you would have time to watch some good comedy or a soap opera.

Then the site is heavy as hell, and crappy in definition as a two dollar coin. Lets put it this way, why so much HD capacity if you are going to use the worst compression available. No one cares why the compressor is bad, lets put it this way, the problem is not the software but the one that doesn’t know how to compress something to make it look like a million dollars, but any way, people still believe that the pixels when you watch on air TV is due to the antenna and not because its transmitted in a horrible quality. Also the problem of not being one new site and being hold on its own its a problem, they are still using their old esmas.com site to hold everything. Sorry but Yahoo space is already taken, and Televisa should learn the lesson

Then, even with the guy who is trying to make himself funny, a website like this is not about a personality is about the content, we will see if they are able to get up to this part, but let me tell you, the first thing they are going to find, things that they will be uploading will be too long to heavy to crappy and just boring.

Unless there is an amazing mind behind this, which personally I doubt.

Crappy noninteracting TV is not new TV.

By the way the screen captures are done in high resolution and I try to save as much space and info in them as I could, so you can see how nice the logo on the bottom looks, but the video looks pixelated as big as it could be.

Ayer Televisa la gran compañia de medios para Latino America anuncio el lanzamiento de dos sitios interactivos, para nuevos medios. Revolucionarios de acuerdo a ellos. El primero es el relanzamiento de su sitio de deportes el cual, no parece tan nuevo.

TVolucion.com el segundo de ellos, no es precisamente el sitio mas revolucionario que pueda existir, primero tendre que decir algo bueno aparentemente tendremos acceso a 50 años de television, lo cual en verdad seria interesante, hace mucho que no veo el material que grabo Jacobo Zabludovsky en el terremoto de 85, o tal vez tendran los programas de super vacaciones, que tal Corre GC Corre, o los video del tio Gamboin cantando feliz cumpleaños con salchichita o Genaro Moreno con la cancion de “I just call to say I love you”, hay mucho en el archivo de televisa que vale el tiempo para entender a Mexico, a los Mexicanos y por que la frase “Yo hago tele para los jodidos”.

El problema con el sitio revolucionario como un Medio Social, o Nuevo Medio, en realidad carece de tal, por la gran falta de interactividad que presentara. Obvio, el primer problema, el video solo sera on demand, no podras descargarlo ni verlo de ninguna otra manera, que a tiempo real frente a la computadora. Problema grande, por que no considera a las personas que estan mas acostumbradas a consumir medios en otras situaciones, ademas el sitio es un sitio completamente flash y silverlight, todo absolutamente enbebido, la calidad del mismo decrece por ello. Tienen un problema serio en cuanto a compresion de imagenes, aun teniendo experiencia haciendo alta definicion, parece ser que los genios creativos de televisa, no saben como aprovechar los compresores de video para entregarnos una buena definicion. Echarle la culpa al software no es bueno muchachos, alguien hagase responsable y prueben las combinaciones necesarias y entregenos un buen producto.

Otro de los detalles que presentaran, son sus nuevos webisodes. Episodios que solo podras ver en linea. Bueno no es nuevo, ya vimos su intento, con las “Tontas no van al Cielo” me parece que les sirvio como pauta para este nuevo lanzamiento, pero siguen sin ser nuevos, es algo que ya todo mundo ha visto. Problema grave, no tienen idea de los tiempos en linea, estan haciendo television por internet, no NEW MEDIA.

Problema siguiente, todo como siempre esta alojado en su sitio esmas.com no aprenden, el sitio de Yahoo ya esta ocupado, en serio intenten ser mejores, dejen a un lado ese portal inutil, no les ayuda.

El sitio por el momento esta diseñado alrededor de una persona, un personaje de saco rojo sombrero y lentes amarillos, algo asi como la evolucion de su joven cablevision, solo que este no trae estola de plumas, cuando menos. Tambien se hace el chistoso presionandote para tomar decisiones, pero la gente de Televisa aun no comprende que un sitio de medios no debe de estar centrado en una persona, sino en las personas que lo van a ver, para lo cual, no veo ningun sentido.

Este sitio sera inutil si no tienen a una mente creativa y brillante atras de este proyecto, la verdad dudo de las capacidades en este momento del sitio, pero dejemos ver si evoluciona. Por cierto, la television que se ve fea y es en flash esta en youtube, veamos si pueden superar lo malo que se ve en este momento el proyecto.

Las imagenes que pongo, capturadas de la pantalla estan a una resolucion comoda, quiero que vean cuan bonito es su logotipo la lengua de fueran con los dos puntos y la p es tan inovadora (sic). Fijense bien, las imagenes de video estan pixeleadas, las olimpiadas por NBC en linea se vieron mejores y eso que ellos, no tiene un departamento interactivo tan grande.

One of my best friends, Andrew, got me introduce to this comedy act, a bit of a time ago, I even bought a dvd with it. Well I laugh at it still every time I watch it. I found this one in youtube a bit ago, and want to share it. I also found a parody that I will share tomorrow that by the way I used to love to act it some years ago.

Un amigo Andrew, me acerco a este acto de Abbot y Costello.  Me encanta y me rio harto cada que lo veo. Me encontre esta variacion, por el texto en youtube, y pretendo compartirlo. Tambien encontre una parodia del mismo que pondre mañana, esa me divertia actuarla con alguien hace algunos años.

Because Latinos not only have Tequila, they also have Jamaica, Lime ice Popsicles, Jarritos  and Mangos, that’s why some smart marketing kid being a bit ironic on my side, created this new campaign mainly new ads talking about Hispanic origins for The Home Depot. By the way you can also find Mexican guys working outside of them, take them with you.

Hace ya un par de años Carlos Mencia, hacia el chiste, fui de vacaciones a Tijuana en Mexico y me encontre un Home Depot, pero estaba vacio, me sorprendi decia. Claro, son lugares de entrenamiento, para que cuando cruzan el rio, y los mexicanos sepan en donde tienen que juntarse para reparar cosas. Chiste cruel lo se.

La idea de esta campaña nueva de Home Depot es reconocer los origenes Hispanos, por que no solo el Tequila lo llevaron los latinos. Algun chico listo de marketing penso que esto seria divertido. Me parece ironicamente entretenido la verdad.
